NYGASP performed "Mikado" at Wolf Trap this summer, as it does every summer it's not performing "Pirates" or "Pinafore" there, and Lucy, Daughter of Steve, repeated her City Center cameo as the "axe coolie." At the end of one of the performances the company was asked to stay onstage for a couple of photos. After getting some shots of the entire cast the chorus was thanked and the principals were asked to keep smiling for another minute. Fortunately Lucy decided that she was a principal - I would have done exactly the same thing when I was 11 - and here she is with Al (the one who's not Japanese) and the rest of the "Mikado" stars. Note Dave Macaluso in the center as Ko-Ko. I was in the pit with my horn, still enjoying my Mikado sabbatical (likely to end soon).
Lucy is the principal on the right. Click photo (provided by David Sigafoose) for extra cuteness.
Good film directors do reebmemr this - and much more. Try Minghella on Minghella or Ondaatje's The Conversations: Walter Murch and the Art of Editing Film for a start.
